State Champions

Now that Burton won a state title in girls basketball is there a LPD girls basketball team that hasn't won one? Pound and climtwood won in the 80s appy, kelly recently, has pv ever won it in girls.

Think of when consolidation happens, IMO a lot more of these rings will be coming home.

But congrats to the Lady Raiders, really proud of them, this program has turned around completely. I remember Goforth saying to me a couple of years ago that in a few years they would be playing for a state title, well here they are state champs after being a game away from there two state titles.

No PV never won a girls, only boys in the 70s

Didn't he graduate from Appy? Thought I read that somewhere, might have imagined itr he had something else to do with Appy, he's not fond at all of Kelly though.

Yeah if I was coaching at Norton,I'd certainly be telling folks that I despised their biggest rival

At any rate,this thread is about the Lady Raiders winning state and that's where i'll leave it. Again grats Raiders on achieving the dream.

Burton is officially the best Girls Basketball team in VHSL Class A Division I for 2011.:2thumbsup:

It also took a coach/graduate from J.I. Burton to bring J.J. Kelly a state championship in football, and one from Clintwood to bring JIB one in football.
